Usually held the second week of January, the seven-day event is staged at various venues including the modern Sir Garfield Sobers Sports complex, the historic Sunbury Plantation House and the open-air venue of Farley Hill National Park.

The two-day outdoor Barbados Jazz Festival at Farley Hill Park is an especially popular element of the festival as fans bring coolers of drinks, food and blankets to stretch out on the shaded slope and watch the show.
